Partial Cut Segment

You can use Partial Cut Segment to apply segmented cutting along a line or arc. You can choose the split point and cutting direction. If necessary, you can adjust the lead-in, cutting conditions, and pierce type. The system will generate the partial cut path and correct the line compensation to accommodate for the split command of the pattern(s).

Select Partial Cut Segment and move into the work area. When the pointer bounces among the various patterns and lands on the correct pattern, click to select it. A small circle and an “X” appear to indicate the position of the split point. The system prompts you to select a split location.

Move the pointer to position the split point anywhere along the pattern. If you want to choose a different pattern, click the right mouse button. Select the alternate pattern and click the left mouse button. The positioning marker hesitates at the snap points.

When the position of the split point appears correct click the left mouse button. To select the cutting direction. click the right mouse button. Each time you click the right mouse button, the paths on each side of the split highlight to indicate the cutting direction. When the desired path highlights, click the left mouse button. The path is split and the cutting direction arrows indicate the direction of the cut.

Finally, the system prompts you for the end point. Move the pointer onto the end point of your choice and click the left mouse button. You could now edit the start or end cut attributes of the new paths created by the split.

Notes:

If the system won't apply a cut to a pattern and shows the warning, "Cannot split the path without a start point," the user may simply set a lead-in line or sequence the part to move ahead.

If you have loaded a cutting machine setup, then you can use Partial Cut Segment in Part or Sheet view. If Sheet view is active, the system reminds you that you are splitting patterns on the sheet.

 If you have loaded a combination machine setup, then you can only use Partial Cut Segment on patterns that you have added to the sheet while in Sheet view.
