Radius Slot

The Radius Slot option allows you to create a curved slot that encircles a center point from any starting angle to any ending angle.

To draw a radius slot, select Radius Slot. The system prompts you for the center point, radius and start angle (Angle 1). Next, the system prompts you for the moving angle. This is the number of degrees the arc travels. It is the difference between Angle 1 and Angle 2 in the property window. You can type positive or negative values, depending on the direction of the arc travel.

Notes:

Use the mouse to define the width. Observe the values in the property window and click the left mouse button or press <Enter> when the correct value appears. Make any corrections in the property window.

If you want to type the width, remember this formula: Take the radius of the slot and subtract half the width. Type the resulting value. Press <R> and <Enter>.

The snap points for a radius slot appear in different places, depending on how you defined From Arc (Centers or Ends) and To Radius (Inside, Center, Outside). Note: To precisely position patterns try the Coordinates feature in the Draw menu.

Radius Slot Properties

Option

Description

General (Radius Slot)

Center Pt. X

The X coordinate for the center point.

Center Pt. Y

The Y coordinate for the center point.

New Center Point Button

Click the New Center Point button to reposition the center point of the Radius Slot.

Radius

The radius of the slot. You can specify whether the radius measures to the outside arc, the center of the arc or the inside arc using the To options (Inside, Center, Outside).

Angle 1

The starting angle for the radius slot.

New Angle 1 Button

Click the New Angle 1 button to define a new starting angle (Angle 1) for the radius slot.

Move Angle

The moving angle of the slot. The moving angle is the difference between Angle 1 and Angle 2. It indicates how many degrees and the direction the arc travels.

New Move Angle Button

Click the New Move Angle button to define a new moving angle and Angle 2.

Angle 2

The ending angle of the slot.

Width

The width of the slot.

New Width Button

Click the New Width button to update the value for the width.

Scallop Ht

Type a value in this field to control the scallop height formed by round nibbling tools.

From Arc (Centers, Ends)

These options allow you to specify whether the moving angle measures from the ends of the slot or to the center points of the arcs on each end.

To (Inside, Center, Outside)

These options allow you to specify whether the radius is measured from the outside arc, to a point between the two arcs or to the inside arc.

New Start Point Button

Click the New Start Point button to define a new starting point (Angle 1) for the radius slot.
