Obround

An obround is a slot having a radius at each end. You can draw an obround slot using any width, length or angle.

To draw an obround slot, select Obround. The system prompts you for the center point, angle, length and width for the slot.

Notes:

If you want to type the values, use <A> for the angle and <R> for the length. The length value is derived from the center point of the obround. You must therefore specify half the actual length. However, if you use the property window, you type the full value in the Length text box.

If the angle is 0° or 90°, you can type X and Y coordinates instead of typing the angle and half the length.

Note: To precisely position patterns try the Coordinates feature in the Draw menu.

Description

General (Obround)

Center Pt. X

The X coordinate for the center point of the Obround Slot, measured from the reference point of the part.

Center Pt. Y

The Y coordinate for the center point of the Obround Slot, measured from the reference point of the part.

New Center Point Buttons

The New Center Point button allows you to move into the work area and relocate the starting point.

Length

The length of the obround slot. The system measures an obround either from the center points of the ending arcs or from the end points.

Width

The width of the obround. This is the distance between the parallel lines.

New Width Button

The New Width button allows you to move into the work area and modify the obround’s width. Click the left mouse button or press <Enter> when you are satisfied with the new position.

Angle

The angle of the obround slot.

Scallop Ht

Use this field to control the scallop height on a specific obround slot. The scallop height is the distance formed by the scallop created by round nibbling tools.

From (Center Point, End Point)

The length is measured either between the end points or center points. If you select Center Point next to From, the length spans only between the center points of the arcs at each end. The total length is the value displaying in the Length text box, twice the radius of the arcs. The radius of the ending arcs is half the width. If you select End Point next to From, the length spans to the edge of the arcs on each end of the slot. If you do not modify the measurement, the obround defaults to From End Point.

New End Point Button

The New End Point button allows you to modify the end point of the obround.
