Intersect Patterns

You can use Intersect Patterns to calculate the intersections of lines, arcs, rounds, or a combination of these patterns. The system places a snap point to mark the intersection.

To use this option, select Intersect Patterns. Select the first pattern, and then the second pattern. If the patterns intersect (or would intersect if extended), snap points appear at all possible intersections.

Notes:

1.       The system displays the “These patterns do not intersect!” message if the patterns do not intersect. Press any key to continue.

2.       You can select the patterns in any order.

Example 1: Intersection Round Holes

Create a new 10 x 10 part. Place a 1.0 radius round at 2X 2Y. Place a 2.0 radius round at 3X 3Y. Select Intersect Patterns. The system prompts you to select the first pattern. Click the 1.0 radius round. The system prompts you for the second pattern. Click the 2.0 radius round. New snap points appear at the intersections of the two rounds.

Snap points appear where the

two rounds intersect.

Example 2: Intersection Two Lines

Draw a 4.0 line starting at 1X 5Y and ending at 5X 9Y (the angle is 90°). Select Intersect Patterns. When prompted for the first pattern, select the 4.0 line. The system prompts you for the second pattern. Select the horizontal construction line at the top of the part (0X, 10Y to 10X, 10Y). The snap point appears where the two lines would intersect.

This point indicates where the two lines would intersect.
